PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES

SECTION 38 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1994

In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994,

Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of its intention of:

St Brigid’s Primary School, Kildare Town, Safe Routes to School Scheme comprising of:

  • Traffic calming measures installed within the extent of works including tightening of junctions and raised crossings to reduce vehicular speeds and prioritise pedestrians.
  • Various footpaths widened to promote safe active travel.
  • Installation of bollard & pencil bollards within the designated school zones.
  • New road markings and resurfacing works within the extents of work.
  • New raised and level pedestrian crossings on Academy Street, Grey Abbey Road, Meadow Road, Tully Road & Bride Street.
  • On-street parking on Academy Street & Grey Abbey Road reduced with additional accessibility parking spaces and regulated bus set down areas.
  • Safe routes to school initiatives such as bollards, road markings and signage to be incorporated outside the school to enhance greater safety to vulnerable road users.

Drawings showing the proposed works will be available for inspection at the following locations from 7 May 2024 to 6 June 2024
